“Whether it's a thesis, or an article, or some other type of scholarly output, everything goes to the public via our institution's repository. Therefore, we require confidence in submitting into this type of Open Access. And that feeling of confidence, only comes when you have done the checking of plagiarism properly.”

As head of the central library at NIT Rourkela, Bhojaraju and his team have spearheaded a number of initiatives to stimulate students’ understanding of academic integrity and appropriate research practice. The “Research/Project Support Service” (RPS) has been particularly successful in providing practical guidance to faculty, students and scholars in using Turnitin. Additionally, Bhojaraju believes that using Turnitin provides NIT Rourkela with confidence that their research output is of a global standard. This is very important since NIT Rourkela is one of India’s premier institutions that offers open access to its repository of scholarly publications.

Always looking to improve the service the library offers to students, Bhojaraju has also been considering the possibility of offering virtual and physical guidance as part of the Research/Project Support Service.
