Turnitin for iPad: New Update Available

Turnitin for iPad PasscodeThere’s a new update to the Turnitin for iPad app (version 1.2.2) that will be available in the App Store today—Thursday, December 12, 2013. What’s new in this release:

  • Added mandatory four-digit passcode feature to securely manage access to grading.
  • Added welcome workflow to facilitate access for new users, depending on whether they typically access Turnitin via an integrated LMS and/or via Turnitin UK.
  • Made general bug fixes and performance improvements.

We want to specifically point out the new mandatory four-digit passcode feature. While we recommend everyone to use iPad’s native passcode function, this additional app-specific passcode was implemented to better protect the sensitive student information that is accessible via Turnitin for iPad.

When you first open (or log in to) the updated app, you will be prompted to enter a new four-digit passcode. You will need to re-enter this passcode whenever the app has been idle for more than 5 minutes—this includes when you switch to another app, put the screen to sleep, or leave the app open but don’t touch it for this duration.

If the passcode is entered incorrectly 3 times, you will be automatically logged out of Turnitin for iPad and unlinked from any classes you’ve added. You will then have to log in again with your Turnitin login credentials (email address and password) and/or add your classes using class access codes.

We will continue to regularly update Turnitin for iPad in the App Store as we improve performance and add features. As always we very much appreciate you using Turnitin for iPad to provide your students with rich feedback on their work. If you have feedback for us on the app, we'd appreciate you letting us know about it here.

If you enjoy the app, please rate it in the App Store.
