Argumentation with integrity: Lesson 2 presentation

This student-facing presentation guides students through preliminary research and crafting a claim.

This lesson presentation focuses on how students move further into the writing process by moving from a refined topic to determining if they can find enough evidence to support claims and counterclaims. Once this is established, students are guided through the process of identifying the main characteristics of claim statements. Students will work to develop their own claim statement. Examples and explanations are included and should be supplemented with Lesson 2 graphic organizer: What do I already know? and Lesson 2 worksheet: Thesis or claim for students to be able to fully interact with the lesson.
