As an Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship in the School of Business at Indiana University Southeast, Lisa Russell strives to support students in meeting and exceeding their potential. By using Turnitin Feedback Studio as a learning tool and not a policing tool, she feels strongly that individuals can learn how to make the right decisions for themselves:
“...I don’t want to be punitive. I want to be proactive. I want my students to know that I’m going to give them every tool I can to help them and I want them to know why I’m giving them the tools and the tasks.”
Turnitin’s Feedback Studio is one of the tools Lisa sees as the key to unlocking a students’ enthusiasm for academic integrity. She works with her students to better understand the ins and outs of academic integrity by leading open discussions on feedback and plagiarism. Her vision for a more informed generation of students starts small because she realizes that even one student who understands the importance of what she teaches can make a difference:
“If I can have one [student] each semester that I can make a difference in then, to me, it’s well worth the effort and energy.”
Lisa is currently using Turnitin to help imbue her students with the skills they need to succeed. By providing them with a firm foundation with which to build their credibility, Lisa believes she is teaching students skills they can use for the rest of their lives.
